Written by Julie Hiramine and her team, this set of books is specifically designed to help guide girls and their mothers through the passage from girlhood to womanhood. These books focus on a girl's first period and what a beautiful and wonderful time that is. The message of this series is that women are blessed with God's gift to be able to give life. Our culture has made a woman's period out to be a burden, but our desire was to write something that really celebrated and emphasized the positive aspects of womanhood--not the negatives. Both mother and daughter can go through the first two books together. Book 3 gives mom ideas on how to make this transition a fun and positive growth time for her daughter. These books are sensitively designed with young girls in mind: they only focus on a girl's body changes and do not go into sex or boys and their changes.
Approaching Womanhood- This is the first book in the Beautifully Made! series, designed for mother-daughter discussion and bonding time. Help your daughter through this potentially stressful experience while she anticipates her first period. This book is designed to encourage your daughter as it discusses issues all developing girls face and wonder about: her changing body, her first period, her body image, and, most importantly, her worth in God's eyes and her role in God's kingdom. Recommended for girls ages 8-12.
Celebrating Womanhood- Having your period is something to celebrate, and this booklet explains why. The second book in the Beautifully Made! series, Celebrating Womanhood covers subjects like "PMS", which products to use and how to use them, tips on health, and much more. You and your daughter can share quality mother-daughter time as you read and discuss this book; afterward, she can keep the book as a continuous reference. Bible-based, this book will give your daughter an encouraging message about her period. Recommended as a gift for your daughter at the start of her first period.
Wisdom from A Woman-Mother's Guide- Are you anxious about your daughter starting her period? Generations of Virtue has compiled a wonderful resource for mothers to lovingly guide their daughters into womanhood. This book contains ideas on how to celebrate with your daughter, a section on the biology behind a woman's body, how and when to tell your daughter about her period, and some of the surprises associated with a developing daughter (for instance, mood swings). This book from a Biblical perspective can help every mother explain some of the intricacies of womanhood to her precious girl.
This resource is featured in our curriculum guides, Against the Tide for elementary and middle school.
Testimony from a GOV customer:-
"I bought this at the CHAP convention. Recently a friend borrowed this in desperation for something to go with her "princess camping" (girls night away). She had nothing with which to share these important issues - only an American Girl published book. :( After reading through it, she called to say what a Godsend it had been to her. It was perfect for what she wanted! She wanted to buy it from me and replace mine. I gave her your website, but she's writing me the check for this. Thanks for blessing her and me!"

Such a Blessing Review by Victoria
I did this series with my daughter when she was 10 and I was very pleased with them. To find a godly perspective on female puberty was really a God send. When my daughter started changing I used the moms guide for ideas on gifts and special outings. Thank you Julie Hiramine for writing such special books!

Encouraging and inspiring, without unnecessary information Review by HeatherH
When my oldest daughter approached puberty, I searched for titles to use as a springboard for discussion about her approaching menses. Imagine my shock (to say the least) at discovering that most of them contained graphic imagery, plenty of information about STD's and birth control, and many other sources of purity-robbing information.
Enter "Beautifully Made". Celebrating God's miraculous design of women, these titles are an encouraging and gentle introduction for moms and daughters. No extra detail, just straightforward facts told in a way that makes you both realize God's goodness and grace. I especially like the fact that the girls have 2 separate books - it gives them just the information they need, when they need it.
With four daughters in my house, I'm certainly glad I found Beautifully Made! (Posted on 11/9/09)
