As I’m sure many of you are aware, recent media activity specifically targeting our young people is very alarming. While this has been going on for some time, the Grammy’s (aired on January 26th) took on a much darker side than we’ve seen before. The same evening the Disney Channel introduced their first gay parenting couple, on the prime time family show “Good Luck Charlie”, despite the best efforts of organizations such as 1 Million Moms (Disney failed to respond to the literally thousands of protest emails). Where the entertainment industry is leading our children is of the utmost concern, and the examples listed above are only the tip of the iceberg.
Coming alongside some dear partners in ministry, Dannah Gresh, Dr Juli Slattery, and Moms in Prayer (to name a few), we are asking for you to set aside some crucial time for prayer this Saturday, March 1st. As my ministry team and I are in Australia ministering at this time, we and our international ministry partners will be fervently praying for the tremendous need our country has, and especially for God to protect the most precious gifts entrusted to us: our children.
We encourage you to get with other parents and pray this Saturday (see Matthew 18:20), even if just for a brief time in person or over the phone. We’ll be putting out a reminder through email and our social networks on Saturday, along with a simple prayer guide. Be sure to follow our Facebook and Twitter updates.
Lastly, while we are truly concerned, we know our God is bigger and mightier than any of this darkness we see presently. We can take courage that the plans of the Lord for each of us and our families is good (Jeremiah 29:11). Please join us this Saturday, even though not together in person, to seek His face. We can cast our cares and concerns – especially the deep needs we see for our children – on Him (1 Peter 5:7).
